To your experiences and observation, how important is this highly touted sensitive point in synastry when someone's Moon, Sun or Venus sits on it ?
I keep reading it from books, but not sure how true it is, since it is just a mathematical point ...like vertex.

It *seems* to be a sensitive point even in the natal chart. Some astrologers work almost exclusively with the midpoints based on Reinhold Ebertin's theory laid out in his book, _The Combination of Stellar Influences_, also known as COSI. COSI represents the foundational work on Cosmobiology. I don't *usually* work with COSI because I'm accustomed to working with the chart as a normal body. COSI often uses what are called trees, and I'm not about to turn this field of study I've worked with so long into an entirely new field. *If* I choose to work with COSI, I often spot a hint of something I may have otherwise missed in the analysis of the natal chart without the midpoints, and it can sometimes give me that additional insight I might not have otherwise seen.
Is it true? Those I know who work with it swear by it. Used in addition to other techniques, I think it can be a fount of valuable information. I'm less certain that it will offer a consistent run *solely* on those midpoints. Then again, I've worked with them enough to have a good grasp that there is something more here than one might think.
If you have a copy of COSI and know how to use the Dial and what they call the Trees, go for it. You won't be satisfied with what you learn till you go through the process of discovering this for yourself. :)
Edit: Btw, astrologer Rose Murray wrote a couple of books, _When Planets Promise Love_ and _When Will You Marry?_ Both of these books were focused on a premise of specific hard aspects to the Sun-Moon midpoint of individual and composite charts.
Hope that helps.

From what I've read, the most important one is when one's Sun or Moon conjunct the partner's Sun/Moon midpoint as the latter represents some form of inner integration. I know a guy whose Moon in Libra conjunct my Sun/Moon midpoint and my Moon in Leo conjunct another guy's Sun/Moon midpoint. I have strong feelings for both of them although arguably there are other factors present (Scorpio Ascendant in conjunction with my Scorpio planets and Mercury in conjunction with my Moon in Leo in the first case, and my Venus-Pluto-Mercury in Scorpio in conjunction with the guy's Pluto-Moon in the second one).
Also, I am under the impression that my Moon-Pluto midpoint in late Virgo is a very sensitive point in my chart, as I am strongly attracted to two guys who have Sun in conjunction to it and with another one who has his Moon there.
Another sensitive point in my chart is the Jupiter-Saturn square, midpoint in Capricorn. My boyfriend's Sun is in conjunction with it (although his Ascendant in Sag conjunct my Sun too) as well as the Mars of the guy with the Moon-Pluto conjunction.
I do think they are important as they seem to show a point where pressure can be alleviated somehow and the energy of the natal aspect harnessed better.

I am not particularly familiar with midpoints, but as I understand it, the Uranian School of astrology uses them extensively...
