For one, and one very simple reason only: they're HUMAN.

You will find arrogance/the emitting of an aura of superiority amongst any Grouping of people: astrologers do not have a monopoly/a patent on such attitudes.

And I would speculate that were all such to lie down on a "Shrink''s couch, with a little digging what would turn up is a fundamental feeling of insecurity and perceived threat from their colleagues to try and be little them professionally, so as to claim a crown of genius for their own.

Sad, but true,

Heh.. you're right. I've noticed it too, it makes me a bit nauseous. But I've also noticed it at school, at university, at work, at volunteer services, in shops.. pretty much anywhere where people gather this seems to happen. Some people just become very proud of their achievements (whether they really have done anything or not) and flaunt them - they want to be recognised, and they have to present an air to make people notice. Some people like to bring others down so that they are less likely to notice their weaknesses. It is a self-esteem thing, a power thing, in the end. People seem to do this wherever they go in whatever field/situation they find themselves in, and it seems amongst astrologers this is no exception. I honestly think this is an integral part of human expression in this current society that exists regardless of signs and placements and such... though certainly there may be placements that encourage this kind of behaviour to an even greater extent.

A friend of mine who joined a spiritual sect for a number of years told me that despite it teaching equality and acceptance and inner peace, there was snootiness and hierarchy amongst the members. I had hoped that in areas of spirituality people would realise that this kind of behaviour only causes stagnation in themselves, in the people they interact with and in progress in general... but at this point it doesn't seem that way to me. That ego always flares up. Of course, there are people who aren't like this at all, but I would assume the placements in their chart in regards to their behaviour would be more marked than in the charts of people who do act like that.

I think that persons who do this within the world of astrology will also be the same way in other aspects of their lives. Those who have the "I know more than you" attitude about astrology will also have the same attitude when it comes to science, math, religion, politics, and making gravy.

Strictly from an astrological viewpoint, I think several placements could be involved. At the top of the list I would say Jupiter and Saturn placements and aspects. Jupiter is said to reflect upon the social sense, and how one expands into commonly shared interests in society. Saturn indicates how and where a person becomes a member of those groups. So Saturn is concerned specifically with the place of that member within the group, and defines whether that place they have is secure and stable, and whether it will remain that way. A person having hard aspect between Jupiter and Saturn has had to work harder than most others for what they have, so there is a strong need to hold onto their membership within groups or common interests. Sometimes this person might misinterpret any disagreement with them as a hostile attempt to overthrow their place or value within the group.

I think some do this, and it would have to do with Mercury aspects. It involves the thinking, attitudes and way of communication, so hard aspects to Mercury. I do agree that these types would do it with other walks of life as well.

"Doctor heal thyself."

"Astrologer analyze thyself." LOL

Well, I can't say astrologically why, but you will always find some people who feel a need to patronize others to make themselves feel better about themselves. Shake it off when you encounter it, feel sorry for them at the worst, and move on to someone who really wants to learn and teach and grow with you!

I believe they read something in the books, and then see maybe 10 or 20 examples of it in real life and decide that's it, they know all there is to know. Anyone else with a differing opinion is wrong. I suppose that it could be a combination of aspects, including Mercury because of intellect, and Uranus which would be their ability to be original in ideas and concepts.

There is arrogance in all parts of society. I work with engineers and scientists, and if you find a humble one amongst them, I would be shocked.

But, I look at things like this very practically.....

-Do the people contribute positively in any manner from their supposed wealth of knowledge? The litmus test is "Can I learn something from this person that may be beneficial?"

-If they do, I ignore their arrogance, because the benefits of contact outweigh the costs of ego contact.

-if they do not, I ignore their claims of advanced knowledge and education, whether they be true or not. Knowledge is only worth anything when it's shared and honest. If they spend more time ranting and complaining about not getting their due than teaching and coaching other people, they are worthless to me because they have read the book but have not integrated the lesson.

Otherwise it's just some poor sap that went to school for a long time but didn't really learn anything.

I've seen this too, actually. The "I know, so you just listen to me and forget any idea you had about it in your mind." I don't think anything generally causes it, but that it is found in their individual charts. Although I never thought of this before so it'll take me a while to decide what planet/object/aspect could cause this.

I also suspect they would have the same behaviour if it was another field or study.

It's kind of Astrological snobbery, isn't it? I do think some astrologers abuse the fact that astrology can be freely interpreted. They can say what they want, no one can prove them wrong because they can claim those are exceptions.

The snobs! :p

@Isa: I know I'm not a Sagittarius sun and I'm not going to claim that being a Sagittarius rising is the nearest thing. I like to think it is, but I have to be realistic... still a Scorpio sun... BUT, what I have noticed is that people with prominent Sagittarius influence often aren't taken seriously no matter what they say. I've seen it myself - hardly anyone takes me seriously, including myself sometimes, and I'm often patronised where there really is no need to.

You are very Sag as well, and perhaps that is why people bring you down despite all the studies you've done? I have to say, I've been studying astrology for longer than you but hardly as intensive!

And thank you for your vote of confidence in my answer, but I personally don't think I've really brought much into the situation. Thanks anyway :)

Take a metallic vessel in your hand. Fill it with water to brim. Take a nail and a hammer. Peck a hole in the vessel every time you think "Couldn't Ever". See how much water the vessel is holding. Remember the empty vessels makes the most sound. Now start thinking "I can do it", on the face of any adversity, even if you think it is impossible, just think you can do for the sake of thinking so, whether you believe in it or not, just think "you can do it". The most important thing is take some solder and close one hole each time you think "I can do it". Soon you will close all the holes. Once you have closed all the holes fill the vessel again with water. Does it hold the water? It does. The vessel is potent now. The vessel can hold memory, hold thoughts, hold powers, hold strength, hold convictions, hold anything and everything because you thought every time "You could do it". Make a deep visual impression of this vessel in your mind connecting with your thoughts of impotence, incapabilities like when ever you say "Oh, I cannot remember it" try to recapitulate the visualization of the pot with holes which you are going to become if you continue with such thoughts and start saying " I have excellent memory", and to your surprise you will find, indeed you have developed excellent memory. Say always things positively see how things can be said positively even if it has a negative answer. For e.g. if someone ask you, "Is there Post office nearby?" and you know for sure there is none, do not say "No, there is none". But say the post office is little far away, about ten miles from here. The negative vibrations can block your energies from stopping you from doing what you can and give failures which concretize the idea and attitude that "I couldn't ever"; well, you never knew you always "Could".

Because astrology is a very deep subject it is now being brought to society in a way that makes it more relevant to the time. Back in the early 90's I rarely heard people mention anything about astrology but now even more people ask more about astrology because they see just how important it is. But the reason why astrologers have a "I know more than you do attitude" is because we study we are accomplished in this field so when you know something in great details you will definitely come across like you know everything just being honest. Like the quote goes "the more you know the better you are".

be leader of the pack and choose the best female. the best place to sleep and sweetest part of hunt.

it doesn't matter if someone tries to be the best astrolog or best politician. they are still doing what cave people did.

fame and success = money.

money = power.

opponents defeated = more power.

more power = better place to sleep, better person to have sex with, better things to eat.

philosophers even have that attitude. pretty much every philosophical and even psychological movement born attacking what's "popular".

it's a very, very stupid loop ruled by the same stupid insticts.

and if i have to connect the dots between this and astrology, maybe planets determines your level of "will to power", that's all.

i've little maybe.

Hard aspects to planets in or rulers of the 9th and 11th house. The 9th has to do with their level of education or self exploration of research, and the 11th is the natural house for the sign Aquarius, symbolizing astrology.

I don't think it's because they know more. I think it's because they "think" they know more. It's an underlying insecurity having to do with wanting to have the clout, but not willing to earn it, becoming defensive.

Ask them. I'm sure if they are that great, then they can point out exactly what in their chart makes them so.

i havn't yet seen this. But thats a real shame, because often people who like astrology seem open minded to me, which is great.
