why astrology does/doesn't work?

what's your view?

this is mine: the moon effects heaps - the tides, waves rising, gardeners plant by the moon, more people are arrested on the full moon cycle, women's periods are cycled to the moon (a cheeky example :P). The moon changes during the starsign cycle. I think it's unreasonable to think that the moon can't effect somehwat how we are when we're born, and generate a sort of "mood' during the week, etc.
I also have been studying the starsigns. It's not automatic Taurus likes the colour red. They like red (because physically it does "come" towards you - your eye lense has to move concave to see the colour, giving the physical sensation that it comes closer). Thus red= warm and solid, secure and thus comfortable, appealing to this sense in a Taurean. Cancerians are manipulative - because they are very good at observing human behavior, which comes from the fact that they're very sensitive (and feel body language, tone inflection etc a lot more strongely than most) - and their s

Of course people generalise too much. There are "high" and" low' vibrations. And please do not forget that a chart is a "potential".

If you are 13, you will not be the same as when you are 65. Your ego hopefully will have matured, your life experiences will have taught you a few things about other aspects of the chart (planets etc)....you never stop learning in short.

It is a journey but where is the destination ?

"potential" is the key word I think..........and people in general do not fulfill their and sometimes at no fault of their own..there could be numerous reasons, backgrounds, culture, childhood experiences............etc.

Yes indeed some leos are really pussicats.........but you got to look further than the chart and actually meet the person.

In some cultures, being 'flamboyant" is being looked down so the energy has to be channelled in some other way.....be the top at.......whatever.

Some character traits are deemed favorable whether of your gender, age, status, employment, family, associates. society' dos and don'ts and others are repressed. Hence the confusion.

They will always in some way express themselves in one way or another.

That is what makes people confused and not see the bigger picture I think.

And again. A sun sign is only part of the chart. Might manifest itself or be pushed down.......

So I can understand why some people say that is all rubbish on top of never had studied this subject.

And you have to admit it.........like everything else : social sciences, maths, economics, the whole world really...........I think it is still a work in progress. We still do not know it all !

All I know is that I want to live on the moon. I love the way it looks and i am drawn to it. Always have been..the moon and saturn.

this was too long to read...by the time I got to the end of it I forgot half of what I read haha.

Astrology works in most cases. It is more then just the day you were born. There are a lot of other aspects of it. And only a true astrology can identify the more intricate details of each zodiac sign.

If you are born under a sign and feel like its not, then you are probably more like your rising sign or other sign. And certain signs (like cancers) are easily influenced by other (more dominant) signs.

For fun, astrology works just fine. Personally, I find that things are so vague that any other sign can be adapted to suit me and I'm supposedly a Libra =/

I'm all about making everyone happy and finding balance...but I still take everything with a grain of salt. I mean, even I have my biases and have those selfish moments.

But what do I know? Maybe you'd like to convince me? =]

(BTW I absolutely abhor the colour pink...)

the only thing that makes me not believe in horoscopes is that i find it kind of insulting/simple that people born within the same few weeks supposedly have the same looks/personalities. Where's the variety?

I think God made everyone to be different, and individuals.

I like looking at horoscopes anyway though.....i like the way my sign seems (Sagittarius) Just realize, everyone is more complex and more interesting than a few paragraphs on your "sign" may make you seem.

lol...I seriously doubt if Carl Sagan would pass his own test...what a hack.

Anyway, I have a great link for you, Lencow...it has lots of great answers to this question, so I'll refrain from adding more:

I use astrology every day. I use it to help identify and eliminate communication blocks that exist among the people in my groups; I use it to find potential career paths and learning opportunities in my chart and in the charts of those who consult with me; I use transits to identify the moods and "flavors" of the day, which eases my way; I use forecasts to help identify communication trends in my relationships...I use karma to help pinpoint and refine goals and strengths..

There's so many uses for real astrology, its utterly astounding. That some people only identify it with the Sun signs is truly sad. And that some people total close their mind to the possibilities inherent within such a powerful tool is merely laughable.

You do not produce evidence in your statement. Unless you do, is this just stereotyping and pure speculation. Humans are naturally pattern seekers and that leads to gulibility.

My view is astrology and other types of magical thinking are enemies of logic and reason. I choose to use Carl Sagan's Baloney Detection Kit. It is useful even with thing that are not parnormal. Try it on astrology and see the worth of it.
