Universities have all kinds of departments math, English, physics, poli sci, etc. but I've yet to see an accredited university that has an astrology dept. They don't grant

As a society we have developed more scientific ways of determining what it is we want to determine. They do not have esoteric studies, though I think they would have a lot of applicants if they did. The subjects you have mentioned have gone the way of mythology (even though, mythology courses are listed occasionally for literature majors).
These subjects cannot be tested, measured or quantified in a scientific manner, therefore it would be hard to gauge the competency of the practitioner.
If you are interested in these subjects, contact the Spiritualist Church or a New Age Bookstore near you and inquire about class listings. There is no college credit, but there are fees for the classes and materials..***:D

For the most part, yes. However, I do believe that there are charlatans and con artists out there so you need to separate the systems/beliefs from the people selling them just as you need to separate God from church ministers (some are good and some are not). I don't believe for one second that humankind has discovered all there is to know yet. Just look at the science of genetics and how far that has developed in the last ten years. When I was still at school there was no such thing as computers, mobile phones and the Internet which are all things we take for granted these days. Aren't you glad that people like Bill Gates thought out of the box? I am grateful that I have an open and enquiring mind as we are living in exciting times where possibilities are endless. I find the "occult" studies a fascinating subject and they make perfect sense to me and that is all that matters. I don't need to sell it to anyone else, everyone has their own path to walk. P.S. Skepticism is not the same thing as cynicism.

Maybe a course in astrology wouldn't be long enough for a honour's deg. I was told some philosophy faculties offer it as a course in their master's, because my friend who took phil told me that, but it was just one of the courses you could have picked the final year. Am not sure why it is taught there. X

Because it falls under the esoteric arts. Its reading is not 100% accurate even in the best conditions. Some of that stuff interest me, but even I acknowledge as it stands today that has no place in a university.

The subjects you mentioned are superstitious faiths. Hence Universities around the world do not have any study or course on those subjects.

Because universities do not promote bunkum.
