Why do you use Horoscope Section, information, escape, camaraderie, laughs, curiosity, other?

Question

For me I was trying to lighten up with something I didn't take very seriously. Escape. Now I find myself compelled to find out more, like why on earth does this REALLY seem to work. I may ask that officially next.
Give your sun/moon and more if you have it.

I use Horoscope Section for all of that you have listed. Information - yes, I have learned so much, especially how zodiac plays out in interpersonal relationships here; Escape - yes, especially when real life or other sections (Current Events for me) gets too intense; Camaraderie - yes, interesting in and of itself; Laughs - yes, when I least expect it, I have laughed so hard at some answers; Curiosity - yes, perpetual curiosity.



It is amazing when you discover things about people how it plays out in this section. Welcome aboard!

Like you, I felt compelled to find out more. I went through a long phase of reading the books since I was told horoscopes are like the title of a book, not the complete book itself. But I found so many contradictions, and finally realized there's so many interpretations that if half or more doesn't so well, then there's still enough of them that do fit and make it look real. Or the sign a planet's in may not fit because of what house it's in, or an aspect changes. If something didn't happened as supposed, then a transit or retrograde delayed it.



So I click on an occasional question from the main category. It fascinates me to see how people use astrology as a role playing game.

Information and escape, mainly. Information in the sense that it's interesting to see how people express themselves and how they interpret signs and aspects on various levels. Escape in the sense that it's nice to read and talk about astrology, something I can't do much in the real world, and because Y!A is relaxed and anonymous.

I don't. New questions show up as general issues. Astrology fools people for some very basic reasons. People don't realize that they have a great deal in common with almost everyone else, and most people don't know how to recognize a prediction. Astrologers almost never make predictions. The most successful ones simply make statements that are very vague and easy to apply to many different situations, or the describe things that happen to almost everyone every day. If I tell you that tomorrow you will be the recipient of $59.86 from an unexpected source, that's pretty specific. You'll be able to find out if you actually receive that exact amount. Now, if I say that tomorrow you will be the recipient of an unexpected gift, you could probably list dozens of different things that would fit. It could be a penny found on the sidewalk, a notice of the birth of a new relative, a long-forgotten book returned, an invitation to a movie, etc. It's also very easy to demonstrate that people born in the same month do NOT have similar personalities. If they did, you'd find that people with similar personalities would tend to be born at the same time of the year. If you try this with baseball pitchers, serial killers, race car drivers, skydiving enthusiasts, preachers, etc. the answer is obvious. No correlation. The idea that the planets of our solar system are gods and goddesses who magically zap people with their personalities and control their daily lives by their positions in their houses in the sky should not be credible to you.

Curiosity and information, mainly. I can't deny it becomes a bit of an escape as well. And I agree with you on feeling compelled; that's how it is with me too. I want to dig to the bottom and make my own views.

well at first i used to come cause i thought it be a great place to understand people, cause thats how i see astrology, just a window to know people better. boy was i kidding myself!

I get to see how people act/react to things, and that's always interesting.

I often learn new things from the answers.

Sometimes I learn new things from struggling to word my question properly.

I don't rely on it for a source of information as much as a source of new ideas and theories.

It relieves boredom at work when I'm between classes; that only happens a couple times a year, but I get all my other stuff done and I have nothing else to do.

I have made a few friends online, too.

And, occasionally, I get to see examples of psychosis or other such things and that's always worth noting.

all of the above, really. lol i would not be here just for the levity, i'm dedicated to learning about astrology, but i also have found many great friends from this section and many laughs from the trolls to the drama to the silliness

in fact, i use horoscope section to merge psychology with it. and i'm mostly drunk so for laughs (for me) too.



also how each sign replies x question always a data goes directly my subconscious since i'm drunk.



get wise and wiser. don't care about being practically intelligent. that's just too uptight for me.
