Moon and Neptune have the strongest precedence for sleep, as sleep is a passive, feminine principle. Moon opposite Saturn could cause feelings of uneasiness, that prevent you from relaxing. Moon in the 2nd house, could indicate sleeping problems due to financial worries, and preoccupation with security.

8th house deals with subconscious, and Neptune and Uranus conjunction in the 8th house can adversely affect any images that may come into your mind while sleeping, especially Uranus. It's the planet of the unexpected changes, so perhaps once you hit the REM your body might jerk itself awake, like habitual power naps.

Jupiter opposite Saturn could play a role, too, They are placed in the 3rd/9th house which has to do with learning. I'm only going out on a limb, but one possibility may be that you, instead of sleeping, or dealing with issues below the surface that are bothering you, you may instead try to fix the problem through intense study of some sort. Try to spend more time with internal reflection and balance, instead of trying to actively (fire/air - masculine) "fix" it. Many people come across the problem of trying to 'tackle' sleep, and conquer their sleep habits. This doesn't work.

Jupiter although in the 3rd, may be conjunct your Inum Coeli. This is the lowest part of the chart, and represents us at the 'darkest hour', i.e., bedtime. It may stand out quite a bit, especially with 3rd house issues.

This doubly important, as Jupiter conjuncts Moon, and Moon is opposite Saturn. Moon is in the most feminine of signs, Cancer, and is being tugged at by masculine principles. tHis could prevent proper functioning, such as sleep.

Some people can actually function with less sleep, though, but occasionally, one should try to 'pass out' for 8-9 hours, at least once a week, IMO.

I don't know whether it has any bearing, but I feel that I have lots of restless mental and physical energy. Hard to shut your mind off? Try taking a walk, now that it's nice out doors. I'm a Gemini.

Uranus transit would cause that. It's a long transit, and it gives you too much energy. Check that.

Mars in Gemini would produce a lot of energy and not a lot of focus.

mars in gemini immediately makes me think that. it's a restless, scattered, energetic placement. in addition, your sun squares it, creating more energy. you'll need to find outlets for it

If you have a severe sleeping problem you need to see a doctor and stop appealing to bunch of hippies spouting meaningless mumbo jumbo. Tell you what... ask your dr his opinion on how you're currently going about finding a solution to your problem and see what he tells you.

Edit: So... creating energy are we? Exactly how does that happen? How is energy created? And what is energy... specifically?
