for example,,when rave music was really popular..is it possible that this coincided with certain planetary transits for a particular age group? which planets would be maybe involved with this trend?

how Astrology is also maybe used to forecast trends in peoples thinking by politicians etc?

any examples or elaboration..appreciated

Yes, if advertisers chose to they could use the generational planets to help identify trends. The generational planets are Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, Sedna, and Quaoar.

The main ones to consider, IMO, would be Uranus, Neptune and Pluto. Here is an article that explains the characteristics of each Uranus generation (http://www.astroscoped.com/astrology/uranus_in_signs.shtml), for each Neptune generation (http://www.astroscoped.com/astrology/neptune_in_signs.shtml) and for each Pluto generation ( http://www.trans4mind.com/personal_development/astrology/LearningAstrology/signsPluto.htm)

at least the more recent ones. There's also a few good articles at the bottom.

well, i suppose it is possible. Certain planetary transits do affect world events. When mars in in aries or scorpio, wars are often started. But, i dont think you'd be able to pin something as brief as a trend to planetary movement tbh... its not on a big enough scale

No. Not unless they're absolutely sure they want to lose money. Statistics has shown (quite some time back) that no significant correlation beyond chance exists in astrological forecasting. That's a fact. So why would people, who want to turn a buck asap, willing choose a "method" that has rigorously been debunked? These people use Hypothesis Testing and Decision Theory to turn a buck. And that, of course, begs the question: if astrology really works why aren't it's practitioners rich beyond the dreams of Avarice?

"Yes, if advertisers chose to they could use the generational planets to help identify trends."

Uh... no. Look it up. Or better yet... can you provide a credible citation?
