Here's an excellent page with an explanation of the aspects and the graphic symbol that's used to show each:
http://www.indigoray.net/aspects.html
If you choose to, you can purchase a pad of astrological wheels from the American Federation of Astrologers in Tempe, Arizona (they're online at http://www.astrologers.com/ )so you can have access to section on each page known as the aspectarian. You'd place the symbols in the aspectarian.
Aspects are defined by a certain number of degrees between with a certain number of orb degrees that would be allowable. The orbs are noted as *guidelines* and are *not* set in stone.
Hope that helps.

The easy way to find your natal aspects is to get a free chart on astro.com or cafeastrology.com. Both of those sites give you a list of your natal aspects. Cafeastrology gives a definition of them. Aspects are the angular relationship between two planets on your chart. Aspects are conjunctions (together), oppositions (opposite), trines (1/3 of 360degrees or 120 degrees), squares (/4 of 60 degrees or 90 degrees), or sextiles (1/6 of 360 degrees or 60 degrees), (in order of strength).
Each sign has 30 degrees. There are 12 signs, thus 360 degrees, just like a circle. The way to see aspects is too look first for conjunctions, then opositions, etc.

* Aspects are the relationships between the planets. How they are determined is by math. The distance between the planets determines which aspect they are. Conjunction is 8 degrees apart from the other on either side- except for the Sun and Moon which can be as far as 10 degrees apart. The next is sextile which can be as far apart as 60 degrees, plus or minus 6 degrees. Then the square is 90 degrees apart give or take 8 degrees. Then the trine is 120 apart give or take 6 degrees. Next is the opposition which is 180 degrees apart give or take 8 degrees. You can look up what the aspects look like by googling planetary aspects.
