Though beneficial aspects might ease a tough Saturn position, I believe that assuming personal responsibility is the only way to resolve a poorly placed or even a well placed Saturn in ones natal chart. Each and everyone of us has to assume personal responsibility to learn Saturn's Life Lesson in our life. Nobody can do it for us. We have to do it ourselves.
I do feel you have been given some poor advice on resolving your Saturn issues. A Jupiter/Saturn opposition does not hinder most things in your chart, or your life map as I often call a natal chart. And even the beautiful harmonious Venus trine Jupiter isn't able to solve a Saturn dilemma. Because the only thing that can solve a Saturn problem is taking personal responsibility and then accept the Life Lessons involved in our Saturn and make the necessary changes needed to resolve our Saturn lessons. No aspect can work its magic on Saturn as Saturn only accepts hard work, very high expectations, and the patience to earn the greatest rewards that only Saturn can give. And we are talking about a stern taskmaster. Frustrating us. Limiting us. Delaying us. Making us pay our dues. The road to Saturn's rewards is usually a long journey with many bumps in the road. But through perseverance. great effort, and patience Saturn eventually rewards us for our hard work. And the rewards are awesome as the greatest rewards in life are most often for the things that we work the hardest on. The trials and tests that must be passed in order to receive the "Big Pay-off." Well earned and deserved. Saturn.
I often mention that Saturn is our most beautiful planet with its splendid rings. I believe Saturn earned those rings as nothing is free in Saturn's territory. All is accomplished through hard work and lots of patience. Because if "rings" were so easily given, wouldn't all of the planets have those gorgeous rings? i believe they would. Saturn earned each and every one of those rings and we have to pass each and every test that Saturn passes our way. Personal Responsibility. The answer to each and every single issue that Saturn throws our way. Persistence. Never giving up. This is the only way to win with Saturn. Aspects can't save you. Only personal responsibility wins the rewards with Saturn.
So I suggest that you learn as much as you can about the sign that Saturn is placed along with the house position too. Then find out what the negative characteristics of that sign are and the area of our life that is shown by our house position of Saturn. And then study the aspects to find out which ones need the most work, the hard aspects like squares, oppositions, and conjunctions with incompatible planets such as most of them! lol That Saturn plays hardball. And then work hard, have a good work ethic, and assume personal responsibility for the particulars of your Saturn. Time is slow. Patience is required. Rome wasn't built in a day and our Saturn issues won't be resolved in a day either. Our Saturn return happens around age 28-29 and at that time we can look back at our dreams and goals and see if we have made progress. The first Saturn Return will tell the tale. Worked hard and with discipline. The rewards are already there or are in sight. Been kinda on the down-low hoping Saturn will make progress all by itself, the prospects don't look good. Such is the nature of Saturn's demands. One tough cookie. Showing off the "rings" that nobody else has. Oh yes, Saturn is pleased with rewards that are earned. And that is how we all reap the rewards of Saturn. Hard work and patience.

Saturn is the Ruler of its domain and we choose whether to accept and work hard on our Saturn issues, or we kick back and work out our Saturn Lessons in another lifetime. Which of course has the same issues with Saturn that one had the chance to resolve in this lifetime. We have to "make the grade" in order to progress. Saturn makes the rules.
